George, a fellow '79 classmate (1st in five) .. always a fun guy with an easy smile. He left us too soon. Little did I know then that my "last command" would be the 4-7. Proud member of the Werdann-Fontanez-Weaver FOP Lodge.

George was in my company (#79-10) in the Police Academy. He was a proud Bronx boy with an great sense of humor. You never caught George in a bad mood. Rest in peace, brother.
— Ed Hartnett Deputy Chief NYPD

I personally knew George and will always remember his sense of humor. George was a wonderful person who was taken away from us too early.

I worked in roll call in the 47 precinct. He was a good police officer. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He was loving and caring about everyone and everything. I still miss him. I remember the night before he died I was working and he had just brought a hamburger MacDonalds and he went to get something and I moved his hamburger. When he came back he was looking for it and said I left it here and looked around and picked it up. I told him that Mac Donalds hamburgers had legs and were still walking. He laughed and then we ate together. I loved him so much.

Went to high school (Mount Saint Michael Academy) with George from 1972 - 1976. We also played on the hokcye team team togather. I echo all the comments of his fellow police officers that George was a great guy who always had a smile on his face. Rest in peace, brother.

I remember the day Officer Werdann was killed. I was still in the Academy at that time, and over 300 recruits quit the following day. I couldn't wait to graduate and spend my career hunting down and locking up dirtbags like his killer

George was my Academy maggot buddy. We were all the lowliest of low according to our instructors. George was the only one who could make us laugh about the whole situation. He was my gym buddy and I could not have gotten through it without him. God needed the finest the day He took George. All these years later, it still does not seem real that he is gone. He was too young, too good. I still miss you my friend. God Bless. RIP.

I went to high school with George at Mt. St. Michael Academy. We weren't close friends, but his death came as a shock nonetheless when I heard about it back in 1982. I still have my yearbook with his picture in it.
