I was in the Police Academy with Charles. We rode the E and F train to Queens. He was one of the finest people I have ever met. I will always remember your friendship with me. I will alway remember you positive attitude. May god bless you.

Charles was a graduate of Academy of Aeronautics and had his airframe and power plant licenses (A & P Licenses) Before joining the Police Department he had worked for Northrop Grumman. He initially joined the Transit Police Department in Oct 1981, in January 1982 went into the NYCPD academy ultimately completing 9 months of academy training. I personally discussed his options and considerations of "rolling over" to the NYCPD. Considering his back-ground in the aircraft industry and the possibility of getting into the Aviation Unit the choice was obvious. Finally graduating in June went into NSU. Eventually he did get into the Aviation Unit has a mechanic and occasionally used has as an observer. The last call I received from him was his excitement of getting into that prestigious unit. His passion was police work and aviation. Even though he was single, he went ahead and owned his own home. No, he was not one who lived to die, instead he died living.

Charles was my brother. The day he died remains the worst day of my life. Each additional incident causes me to relive that day when I was 8 months pregnant with my first child, whom Charles would never meet. I will never stop missing him. In life he was so much fun to be around. His death taught me to value each day and take nothing for granted. I hope we will meet again.
