 Officer Brown was shot and killed after being robbed while off-duty. Officer Brown was walking home from a club in Brooklyn when he slipped on ice and fell to the ground. When he fell, two men spotted Officer Brown's off-duty gun and attacked him, stealing his gun. When they attempted to flee in a car, Officer Brown jumped on the hood in an attempted to stop them. After Officer Brown fell from the hood of the car, one suspect exited the car and shot and killed Officer Brown.

Both suspects were apprehended and later convicted of murder.

Officer Brown, 27, had been a member of the New York City Police Department for one year.

I was in the same company at the academy with Angelo. He struck me as one of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet. It was a short time later that I learned late one night that Angelo had died in the line of duty. Angelo's memory has stayed with me all this time. His name is on the Police memorial wall in Washington DC. Angelo was a Marine. So with that I say Semper Fi, Angelo. Strength & Honor
