I worked in Bklyn South PMD with Tony, we partnered up, me being born in Bklyn, and living in Queens and knowing my way around. But Tony spent his whole life in the Bronx, including working in the 48pct. Bklyn was new to him, as well as just moving to Flushing Queens, he needed someone to show him around, so it was perfect, both of us being put in PMD together. He was a good partner, and a great guy, but unforunately I got transferred to the Sqd,and our partnership ended. But like with Cecil Sledge, and Ken Britton, I was there the night Tony got Killed. I was in the 108 A/C, and when the job came over cop shot we responded to the scene. He was shot in the confines of the 104pct. We immediately started searching for perps who fled on foot. When I finally got back to the body it was covered so I never saw his face. I asked one of the cops I knew what the Officer's name was, he responded Vitale(I never realized that was Tony's undercover name)The next day when I saw his picture in the paper I was in complete shock. Like with Sledge I couldn't believe it was him. That is also another night that I will never forget. He left behind a wife and three daughter's, one of which was recently born.Tony God rest your sole.

Tony and I were trainees together in 69 and 70 in communications. We saw each other a lot over the years. We always talked about that hot souped up amlibu her used to have. We laughed at how we became so boring after we were married with kids. He never lost his enthusiam for the job. God bless you Tony. If I was half the cop you were, than I did ok. May the Good Lord continue to hold Detective Anthony Vendittis family in his loving arms. My father was on the job and I had the honor of joining the N.Y.P.D a year after he retired in 1983. When Detective Anthony Venditti was murdered, it unfortunately reminded me once again how much a Cop gives, for he never knows if he will come home, but he /she goes out their day in and day out to do what they believe is their calling. Detective Venditti truly gave his all every day and gave his all the day our Lord called him home. I am writing on this N.Y.P.D Angel tonight for I came accross the other day in my drawer the funeral laminated card that they give at funerals. It is the card of Hero Detective Anthony Vendetti. On it under Detective Venditti's name it states a Cop's Cop" Yes he was. I am retired now, and living in Florida and I am thankful for the opportunity to have worked with great dedicated people whom wear the NYPD uniform. One of those people whom now serve is my son Thomas whom joined a year ago. God Bless the NYPD and God Bless the family of Detective Anthony J. Vendetti - "A Cops Cop"
