Name : Lee, Kevin

Rank: P.O.

Shield #: 23265 Command: PBMN Grand Theft Larceny Unit
Date of Death: 2006-01-27   Cause of Death: heart attack
Police Officer Kevin Lee died Friday night, January 27, 2006 following a struggle with a robbery suspect on Manhattan's Upper East Side.

Officer Kevin Lee, 31, collapsed at East 86th Street and Lexington Avenue as he and his partners were trying to collar three men who had allegedly stolen a laptop computer from an Upper East Side store.

Lee was rushed to Lenox Hospital, where doctors worked for more than an hour to save his life. He died at about 7:30 p.m.

Early reports suggested that Lee suffered a heart attack, but the hospital did not confirm that information.

At a press conference at the hospital, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly praised Lee, a 10-year veteran of the NYPD and a member of the department's Grand Larceny Unit.

He leaves behind a wife and six-year-old son.

Lee's partners arrested two of the three suspects they were pursuing. The third suspect was still at large as of 10 p.m. Friday.

Kevin! Man in the few short years that we've known you you had such and impact in our lives and we grew to be such good friends. Who would have thought the week before you passed while helping us move into our new home we'd loose you. It is so fricken hard to believe you're not with us anymore physically...In our hearts you will definitely live forever. Sitting at home that Friday night waiting for you and Erica to come over for dinner...getting that horrible news was by far one of the most heart wrenching days we've ever experienced. You Kevin were one of a kind.....a true friend To Veronica, Kendal and Myself. Rest In Peace My Brother Forever truly your friend Ed :o(

Each time you came by my office to assist, you made me laugh. You taught those of us who work in the schools that officers are not only people too, but very fine people at that. I will miss your wonderful sense of humor and your company. May God bless your family today and forever! You will most surely be missed at IS 195M.
— Judy

May God Bless your soul and keep your family safe. An Angel up above. God Bless

Dearest Kevin, The pride, joys and the so many wonderful memories you left behind is overwhelming. This tragedy of you leaving us so early in life has left us a huge void in our hearts that will never be whole again. I will miss you and your wonderful smile. Last Thursday at your funeral I felt so proud that you devoted, accomplished and served our city with total dedication courageously. You fulfilled all your wants and dreams in being a New York City Police Officer. I would like to take this time in ?Thanking? your brothers and sisters in the elite Grand Larceny squad at Midtown North and all the precints your served in the Midtown for their compassion, generosity and sincerity at our time of need. You will always be in our hearts and thoughts, Your Aunt and cousin, Grace and Alison Gong

kevin - i still remember the stupid things we'd do as kids... i looked up to you back then because you were older and seemed so much cooler... but now, i look up to you even more.. because you were the real thing...a hero... thanks for making this city a little bit safer for us. you will be missed very much.
— chris lee

Kev, it has been an honor to work with you. Your knowledge and skill was something unbelievable and unexplainable unless experienced first hand. You were a good person with a wonderful family. You will always be in our thoughts, God bless you and please watch over us all. Heaven may have wanted one good Angel, but God transferred one damn good cop.

To Kevin, I'm such at lost for not being able to see you grow into the man you have become. I'm was so proud to hear that you grew up into a beautiful person lovesd, respected and cherished by so many. I only knew you as a baby, toddler then a young boy. I missed the rest....The man you grew into. I so wish I could of shared a few of those moments when you were here. Nonetheless to hear everything you accomplished and the dedication to your family, friends and job makes me gleem with a father's Pride. Your Mom and Dad did such a good job in raising you and sis. So its no wonder I used them as an example with my children and now I lead my life under your example. So its no different now then before. I will continue to pray for you Mom and Dad,sis, Uncles and Aunts Grandma, Grand Dad, neices nephews, and your wife that spoke so eloquently of you at your funeral. I pray for the Holy spirit to come and bring us Peace and to all who miss you. May you rest in Peace. Your Uncle Steven.

Kev, You can rest now in the Almighty' arms. You are a hero for all of us in L.E. May the Almighty watch over your dear-dear family.

I visit this page again after all these months and really, the pain is suffocating. Often our lives are so busy, we have no time to grieve or reflect. This year after losing Kevin, we've lost several family members and close friends, including a baby in May. It's been a tough year. Last week while we buried my husband's grandfather, my seven year old looked up at me in tears and asked me, "Mommy, why are all our family members dying? Is Elijah going to die- referring to his three year old brother". I told him, " Son, I know this year has been hard, and I say to you that death is a natural part of life, as you get older, you'll see not every year will be so hard. One thing is for certain and that our loved ones are alive in Heaven, happy, and peaceful, probably eating all the ice cream they want without gaining a pound." He then cracked a smile and asked if Jesus had chocolate or vanilla. I'm glad the thought of his loved ones possibly eating ice cream with the Lord cheered him up. For my family in New York, for those who loved Kevin- and there were many, God bless you. Let us live each day to the fullest. With Much Love. Angie

I had the pleasure of working with Kevin in the 3-0 and the honor of knowing what a great person he was. Kevin was a quiet and cheerful person who always had a smile. When asked to go out on a radio call Kevin wouldn't ask why him, or its not my sector, he just said ok without the hassle. Kevin was truly a cops cop and will be missed by all. It was a pleasure and an honor to know and work with Kevin. We all will miss him and remember Kevin Lee.............God Bless

Kevin, I can't believe it is almost a year. I am doing my best of taking care of the family. But I have to say everyone misses you a whole lot! I catch myself daydreaming of you walking through the door saying "I'm home". Sometimes I wish this was just a real horrible dream and that I'm gonna wake up and you'll be here! I Love You and Miss You! Always in my Heart and Prayers, Your sister Jeanine

Thinking of you today just like everyday that passes. I miss you. I talk about you all the time. Like the time u got me with the wusabi sauce...when you told me it was minty, as you shared sushi with me for the first time. I think my mouth is still on fire. You were the best at what you did, and in my mind you will never have any competition. Erica is a Sgt now. Joe is still a savage... Jerry is in the Bx, still kickin ass I'm sure. In some weird way I believe you know this...because in all our successes I believe you are watching over us whispering in our ears. Thank you again for everything. Hope you are well Kevin.

Hello Officer Lee. I am currently a PPO in the July 2013 academy class. I want to say that I have had the honor of meeting your parents recently. Though I did not formally meet them, they described you and read a letter that your son wrote about you... You live in the spirits of your loved ones, friends, and your NYPD brothers and sisters. And your legacy now lives within me. After reading all the love from everyone, I wish I had the opportunity to have met you and to have learned from you. As the new guys take this journey of protecting this city; the city you dedicated your life to protect... Please watch over us and guide us. Until we meet in Heaven Officer Lee.

Kevin, it's going to be 11 years since you left us, I can't say that the pain is going away for mommy, Jeanine and me. I shed tears when no one is near and by myself, always thinking of you remembering the day you was born, making sure all your fingers were there and not crooked like mine, how you threw the cigarette lighter out of the car and taught you how to drive. Now all we have is memories and pictures. If it's true that you see us from heaven, you see how wonderful Adam has grown and looks and acts just like you. You'd be so proud of him just as we of you and Jeanine. 11 years and mommy and I still meet officers active and retired that speak very highly of you. Say hi to everyone for me and mommy. Love you, Daddy
