| Richard Buckley was in the Robbery In Progress (RIP) unit of the 75 Precinct. He was injured in a motorcycle accident on the Belt Parkway while on his way to serve a warrant . The cause of his motorcycle accident was never established. No
witnesses were ever found. His injuries were life-threatening and he died shortly after arriving at Kings County Hospital with massive internal hemorrhaging.
Officer Buckley left behind a wife and twin 7 month old girls. Oiffcer Buckley's death was listed as none line of duty because it was believed he was off duty at that time of the accident. After an investigation by the Dept at the request of Officer Buckley's widow's attorney, the Department reversed its original designation of non line of duty to line of duty. On 8/23/84 Police Commissioner Ward approved the LOD effective 11/30/83. |

| I was delighted to see Richard's name added to the Angel's list after all this time. We, the family, have never had closure for his death as we are still "in the dark" as to the cause and some very suspicious things that occurred on that day. I look forward to seeing his name on the Wall of Honor in NY. Maybe this is the first step toward that end. | ||||
