| While on uniform patrol at Broadway and 3rd Street, Williamsburg ? Brooklyn, Ptl. Hipwell was shot and killed while attempting to stop a burglary. This was the second time that Ptl. Hipwell was shot in the line of duty. The perpetrator to this dastardly crime was never identified. | ||||

| I think he may have been a relative of mine. My father, Alan Raymond Hipwell did alot of work on our family tree before his death in 2001 and mentioned John Hipwell. I am proud of his bravery and service and may he rest in peace. | ||||
