It was a pleasure to know Sal. The memories I have are cherished. He was the perfect example of a friend. He is sadly missed.

I went to grade school with Sal back in the 80s. He was a gentle soul, from what I remember. God rest that soul. They say that "only the good die young." That just doesn't seem fair. It is true, however. He is no doubt in a better place now that he has left this sometimes cruel world. Rest in peace, Sal.

MOST PEOPLE DIDNT KNOW THE REAL SAL. HIS TOUGH GUY EXTERIOR HID HIS TRUE SELF. YOU WOULDNT KNOW TO LOOK AT HIM BUT SAL WAS A VERY OUTGOING ,FUNNY AND WITTY PERSON. HE TRIED TO PRESENT THE TOUGH GUY IMAGE BUT I WAS FORTUNATE TO SEE THE TRUE SAL. I FEEL SORRY FOR ANYONE WHO DIDNT GET THAT SAME PLEASURE. SALS LOSS IS NOT ONLY A LOSS FOR THOSE OF US WHO LOVE HIM, BUT TO ALL WHO NEVER HAD THE CHANCE TO KNOW HIM. SAL WAS NOT ONLY MY PARTNER BUT A DEAR FRIEND AND HE WILL BE BADLY MISSED. UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN I KNOW YOU WILL CONTINUE TO WATCH OVER ME.

Sal was a good friend to "TIGGER" and I. He also loved Kathleen and Alyssa truly with all of his heart. He was so proud to be her DAD. Rest in peace xxSJC3xx

There is no easy way to say I am sorry to the family members of Sal Cafiso, but if they all read this, I want you to know how sorry I am to hear about your great loss. It's not an easy phone call to make but I want you to know I think of you all often. It breaks my heart to hear about this tradegy, but I know the "angels" that surround your family are watching over all of you. I miss you guys! Love, Always Jamee Pugliesi

Sal was a unique person to work with. He had a gift that only the few could understand. Det. Cafiso was the link to a small circle of men he worked with. Only three other men in this circle could understand what he did for his job and this great City of New York. I'm sure they miss his presence everyday and what they have done together while working. He will be deeply missed, and the memories will live on for what he had accomplished in his short stay with us. Detective cafiso will be the lead man In what co-workers named his small circle of undercovers "The Dream Team" rest in peace- Detective, You Are Deeply Missed

I worked with Sal in the 77 pct. we were not partners, but we left the 77 pct at the same time to conduct undercover training in the narcotics division. We became close friends and trained together....he was an incredible jokster and made me laugh regularly...he never took himself too serious and could laugh at himself also...this made him a great Detective....Just thinkin about you.
