| Samuel Rosenfeld was the first Jewish Police Officer in New York City of record who was killed in the line of duty. He was shot during a holdup in 1918. Submitted by Harold Schiffer, Past President Shomrim Society. Besides Harry Blumberg and Sam Rosenfeld, there have been at least 21 Jewish Members of the service to have been killed in the line of duty. Their names are displayed on monuments at both Old and New Montefiore Cemetery on the grounds of the Shomrim Society. May all their memories be for a blessing. | ||||
