 Patrolman Vorden suffered a fatal heart attack after chasing after a runaway police horse. The horse had thrown its rider at 155th Street and Eighth Avenue after being spooked. Patrolman Vorden, who was nearby, chased the horse to 125th Street and Eighth Avenue where he finally caught the horse. He collapsed several minutes later.

Patrolman Vorden He was assigned to the Traffic Division and had been with the NYPD for seven years. He was 35 years old.

My father William got Badge 8448 in about 1947. My Dad NYPD was first assigned to a beat on Broadway. He spent 40, yes(FORTY) years with the city. My Dad passed away on 11/10/2013 Glad to see the sheild went from only Noble men to Noble men. God Bless
