 On December 3, 1973 Police Officer Connolly was involved in a fatal car accident while responding to an explosion in a lower Fifth Avenue building in Manhattan. Officer Connolly?s car accidentally struck an abutment on the F.D.R. Drive at Cohenties Slip and South Street. He was off duty at the time.

PO Connolly was spent his last few years assigned to the Bomb Squad. He was an original member of the explosives detecting dogs. On numerous occasions he directed the canines to ferret out suspected incendiary devices. Police Officer Vincent Connolly was 33 years old and lived with his wife and four children in the Bronx. PO Connolly was appointed October 25, 1968.

PO Connolly, you passed responding to a Bomb incident, very few men have the guts and dedication to be in the Bomb Sqd and put themselves in the situations you guys deal with. You may have passed but you will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace Vincent D, we pray for you.
