Some background history about past and current precinct numbers

1929 was the year that the dept changed precinct numbers for the very last time.
The 1st Precinct is the only precinct that never changed numbers.
Bridge Precincts fell under Traffic Division.
Grand Central Pkwy Pct at some point became todays Highway Unit 3
Since the middle of 1929 most all the precincts have kept their numbers the only exceptions are the (018) which is now know as Midtown North,(014) which is now known as Midtown South, and the (022) which is now known as Central Park Precinct.

01/01/1887: Name changed to the 23rd Precinct
05/01/1898: Name changed to the 24th Precinct

07/18/1924: Name changed to the 10th Precinct
07/03/1929: Name changed to the 17th Precinct
